Capturing the Rural Essence of Summer....

Our Civic Holiday began as a work morning with loads of laundry washed and hung out to dry, and food to prepare inside as we were headed out to visit friends at their trailer up north in a small community we had not been to before. We drove through many hamlets and villages past wonderful Ontario farmhouses and field after field of wheat, soybeans and corn. We arrived at their trailer for a shared lunch, followed by canoeing, swimming and exploring.

After a wonderful afternoon of summer fun and fellowship, we meandered the rambling gravel roads home again, fascinated by the Amish community we discovered tucked away in obscurity. Although there was activity on the fields and around the home, with many working in their gardens, I just couldn't invade their privacy but I did capture the essence of their pastorale community, a quiet life of simplicity.
