Summer: Dining Al Fresco

One of our family's favourite things to do in the summertime, is to enjoy our breakfast/coffee time outside on the front porch in the mornings and meals on the back deck in the evenings. It is a time to relax and enjoy family time as well as the fresh air, the chirping of the birds, the gardens and the scent of flowers that are in bloom.
Last week I took my friend S out for her birthday and knew a spot that would be just perfect for us as we both enjoy gardens and the outdoors. I took her to a lovely cafe in a renovated Victorian house full of character and charm in Conestogo, called Rumble Tum Cafe. The owners, Quinn and Heidi serve the best coffees and teas, decadent pastries, assorted grilled sandwiches, soups and salads. They have a real knack for decorating, both inside and out, and have converted all the upstairs rooms into themed rooms with fabulous giftware!
The outdoor garden patios are so cosy and inviting; a perfect place to spend some time relaxing and visiting over a healthy and tasty lunch.
Here's a little taste of the lovely setting, almost like stepping into a secret garden:

Fabulous Day Lilies: Cosy seating spots and wonderful antique decor: And the best part, the coffee and conversation, along with grilled tuna melt and summer salad:
After our lunch, we took in a self-directed garden tour enjoying stunning gardens and homes as we walked. Unfortunately we were so busy talking, laughing and admiring, that I forgot to take photos...you can imagine though!
We also stopped in at a local Mennonite Bakery where they sold bouquets of Sweet Williams and Canterbury Bells outside and a wide array of baked goods inside:

After our visit in the village of Conestogo, we drove up the road to an Afternoon Tea Party to celebrate another dear sweet lady's birthday, held outdoors in a beautiful setting, hosted by J, who made everyone feel special and welcome!
Thank you S for joining me in a delightful afternoon of fellowship and fun!
